As the second largest community college in the state, students can choose from more than 100 degrees and certificates to transfer to a four-year college or university, or to move quickly into the job market. Moraine Valley ranks in the top 8 percent in the nation in degrees conferred and 92 percent of our graduates are employed or continuing their education. Nearly all of the transfer and occupational graduates say they would recommend Moraine Valley to families and friends, according to annual college surveys. Founded in 1967, the college is situated on 300 acres surrounded by forest preserves in Palos Hills, IL - about 25 miles southwest of Downtown Chicago. Moraine Valley is a board member of the prestigious League for Innovation in the Community College and is one of 12 Vanguard Colleges of Learning in North America. The college contributes to the vitality of the 26 suburban communities it serves. A 2007 study conducted by Northern Illinois University showed that Moraine Valley produced an estimated total economic impact of $18 million and an estimated additional 192 jobs in the area.
